NAME: CONNIE (POHL) JONES

I hope that more people will decide to attend the reunion, it would be nice if everyone could come. I'm sorry that I will not be able to come, I know that you will have a good time. (Maybe I'll be able to come to the 55th!)

I was born in Meade. After graduating from High School, I started working for the Meade State Bank. I met Fred Jones of Odessa, Texas and we married in 1958. I moved to Odessa. We moved several times, but ended up in Grand Junction, Colorado for 32 years. Wherever we lived, I always worked in a bank.

My husband and I never had any children. His health deteriorated and has been disabled for several years. I retired in 1999 from Wells Fargo Bank in Grand Junction and we moved to Kerrville, Texas. Kerrville is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.

I was excited to be retired and how wonderful it would be to not have to "go" somewhere everyday. After getting settled in our new home I started being bored with household duties, which didn't take long to do and not having any specific hobbies, I decided to go back to work! I'm back to having somewhere to "go" everyday!

I am now working full time for James Avery Craftsman, a jewelry company with headquarters in Kerrville. (Quite different from banking!) Most of the jewelry is hand crafted and quite expensive. I have a part in actually making the jewelry and it is really interesting. Sort of like having a hobby, but you get paid a little for it!

I also have joined a gym and go there to exercise two or three times a week. Need to keep the ole body and bones in shape as long as I can.

I'm having a blast with retirement and hope that y'all are too! (And down here in Texas, I'm getting used to being called "ma'am")
