Wilma (Blehm) Holmes
Classmates of
Meade High School, 1956

  NAME: Wilma (Blehm) Holmes

After graduating from MHS, I worked for a while at Barnes Cleaners and then worked as a waitress at Minnie Butler's Cafe.

In 1957, I married Richard (Dick) Holmes (Class of '52) and we have celebrated 48 years together. Some of the places we have lived - always in Kansas - Hutchinson, Pratt, Pawnee Rock, and finally Hesston. We have lived here in Hesston for 35 years, a small, quiet town but close to Wichita and Hutchinson for shopping, etc.

Dick is now semi-retired. He is a "delivery driver" for Dillons Pharmacy in Newton. I am a paraprofessional at Hesston Elementary School. I have held this and a similar position for 34 years and enjoy working with the children. I plan to continue this profession as long as my health allows.

Our children are:
Diana Bellin - Medford, OK - divorced with. three children. Diana is a Medical Assistant at a nursing home. Two of her children are married - one with children, so being "greatgrandparents" is even better than "grandparents"!

Carol Hammer - Webster, NY - married to Tim Hammer. They have one daughter, Natalie - seven years old. Carol and Tim both work for the Xerox Corp.

Nancy Johnson - Mulvane, KS - married to Todd Johnson. They have no children, just a spoiled dog named Gunner! Nancy works for J.P. Weigand Realty and Todd works for Spirit - formerly Boeing.

Dick and I keep busy with volunteering at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton, Hesston Area Senior Center, Hesston along with other charitable agencies such as United Way, Relay For Life, etc.

We are very blessed with our lives after learning where our real priorities are following the tornado in 1990, Dick's heart attack and cancer. We live each day as it comes and thank God for the blessings of each day.
